When you’ve found a sound you like, the built-in stereo phrase looper can capture up to 60 seconds of your performance and even allows for layering phrases from different effects. Tweak the sound further using Microcosm's built-in pitch modulation, lush stereo reverb (with 4 selectable modes), and resonant lowpass filter. Microcosm's 11 groundbreaking effects (with a total of 44 preset variations) allow you to slice, stretch, rearrange, and manipulate your playing in musical ways. I've been wanting to try my harp with the Hologram Electronics Microcosm pedal for SO long, and honestly, I think the Microcosm is my new favorite effects pe. i mix and match, but the setup now for synths is: Chase Bliss CXM 1978, Collision Devices Black Hole Symmetry, Empress Echosystem, Hologram Microcosm, Meris LVX, Walrus Audio Julianna. i have a set of pedals for my guitars, and a set for my synths. 16 User Preset slots for saving loops and settings. We were lucky enough to receive the Microcosm a few weeks ago and I’ve been using it daily since then on pretty much anything. Micro is set to line level and stereo in global. MIDI In/Out/Thru, clock synchronization. Hologram Electronics made an iconic pedal back in 2021 and since then a ton of people got one and earned a permanent place on their pedalboards (or desks). I also have the Lexicon PSP 42 plugin ( available here) which will hold a 9.6 second sample. As the pictures show, this pedal is in verygood condition and comes with the box, manual, stickers, power supply, and Microcosm. And, as freeware (last updated in 2012), I don't see it getting any kind of update. I've used Mobius (an emulation of the venerable Echoplex Digital Pro hardware looper) to a certain degree, but it is unpleasantly clunkly porting/bridging a 32-bit vst into a 64-bit DAW. So, part of my hunt has always included a separate stand-alone looper plugin as well. Most of the VST plugins that we're offering (or are likely to be offered) up don't have that looper function included, even if they provide a wide array of desired effects (glitchy or not). That process can be emulated in a series of plugins, but you might still need something that can preserve a captured sample / loop to work with. Hologram Electronics have pumped out a bunch of these large format pedals that are aimed towards knob-fiddling guitarists the Dream Sequence is also worthy of a mention, and their brand new Microcosm looks like it might even be the winer of the bunch. In other words, all fx manipulation is done to that sampled loop. Also worth noting here is that Microcosm has a built-in 60 second looper at its base. Hologram Electronics is specialized in pedals that reinterpret your playing into droning ambient pads, choppy pitch-shifted patterns, and chaotic musical.
